MacuCLEAR obtained, through an exclusive worldwide license from Texas A&M University, its lead drug MC-1101, and at least 11 other compounds aimed at treating diseases of the eye. MC-1101 is a 505 b 2, repurposed compound. 10 of the compounds are new chemical entities. One of these compounds in MacuCLEAR's pipeline is in advanced pre-clinical studies and is not only a possible second generation dry AMD drug, it also is showing attributes that may make it an effective treatment for Diabetic Macular Edema (DME). MacuCLEAR has a multiyear sponsored research agreement in place with Texas A&M and is beginning specific preclinical work to support an IND for treating DME which it expects to file in 2011. As research continues in this area, MacuCLEAR intends to file additional patents in the near future
