History
Based in Texas, MacuCLEAR Inc. was formed in 2006 after George C.Y. Chiou, Ph.D. developed MC-1101 at Texas A&M University. Dr. Chiou also led the development of Timolol, the pioneering and successful treatment for glaucoma. His work on MC-1101 was initially funded by Texas A&M and government grants.
MacuCLEAR holds exclusively licensed worldwide patent rights from Texas A&M University for MC-1101. The company has also licensed and patented additional compounds.
